L-359’s Hood raises $1,340 for hospice

LOCAL 359 MEMBER Robert Hood and his family recently participated in a hiking event that raised $1,340 for the Sunshine Coast Hospice Society in Sechelt, British Columbia. He is pictured above, at left, presenting the check to Ali Khan, president of the Society. “I have seen several of my Brothers and Sisters pass due to cancers and other terminal illnesses at a young age,” Hood said. “Hearing about them going into hospice and palliative care units for their remaining days made me want to go out and make some sort of difference.” Hood and his family set a goal of raising $1,000, but thanks to the generosity of L-359 members, family members, and friends, they surpassed that mark by more than 30 percent.
