HistoryThe State of Ohio Buckeye Industrial Council was created by then-International President Charles W. Jones and International Vice President Lawrence McManamon. They brought the Local 1191 President Ron Lyon on as an International representative and business representative for the council. Business representative Ron Lyon is assisted by a three-person committee elected in the same year as the Brotherhood's local lodge elections. Delegates to the council must be either the president or secretary-treasurer of the lodge. Only one member from a lodge can be on the Leadership Committee. The Leadership Committee currently consists of the following:
Services to Affiliated Local LodgesThe council was established to enable its affiliated lodges to provide better and more effective service to their members in the lodges affiliated; organize the unorganized into new or established lodges affiliated; promote and coordinate through the Brotherhood's Legislative Education Action Program (LEAP), the economic, civil and social welfare of our families and our communities; establish training programs; assist in the administration of collective bargaining agreements; and better achieve the purpose and objectives set out in the International Brotherhood Constitution through joint efforts and cooperation. In addition to the above, the council also provides assistance with arbitration, safety and health, FMLA, ADA and Pensions.
