Communication ServicesStaff
Services Provided to Lodges and MembersThe Department of Communication produces the Boilermaker Reporter, the Boilermaker Activist, and other publications as needed. In addition, this department maintains this Web site and provides support for many of the communications- and publications-related needs of local lodges and the International staff, including print and video projects. The Boilermaker Reporter is the official publication of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, et al. It is published four times each year and is provided free to current members and members holding a Retired Member’s Card. The Boilermaker Activist is an occasional publication for local lodges that provides camera-ready stories and art work they can use in their publications. The Communication Department also teaches courses in communication and publications at the University of Wisconsin School for Workers as part of the International Brotherhood’s annual Summer Training Institute. Support activities of the Communications Department include writing, editing, and designing publications, including the LEAP Manual, the NTL News, and assisting local lodges and International staff with communication activities. If you would like more information about creating local lodge newsletters and Web sites or any other activities of the Communication Department, send an E-mail. Let us know how we can assist your lodge. Are you not receiving the Boilermaker Reporter? If you are an active member or a retired member with a Retired Members Card (RMC), you should be receiving the Boilermakers' official newspaper, the Boilermaker Reporter, four times a year. If you are not, it is probably because we do not have your correct address. Send your name, mailing address, and register number to us in one of the following three ways:
Others can receive the Reporter for only $10.00 for a three-year subscription. Send us your name, mailing address, register number, and a check for $10.00 made out to the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers. NOTE: We do not send out renewal notices, so you will need to remember to send us another check in order to keep your subscription current. The expiration date of your subscription will appear on your paper's address label. All retired members qualify for a Retired Members Card, but your local lodge must apply for this card on your behalf. It is not automatic (we have no way of knowing when you retire). Questions about Retired Members Cards should be directed to the Membership Department.
