Scholarship finalist seeks Boilermaker help

Danielle Brooke Lancaster

Granddaughter of L-667 retiree posts video, hopes for big response

IN A NOVEL approach to choosing scholarship winners, West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon, W.Va., requires its 12 finalists to create a video about themselves and to amass online votes. The top vote-getter will receive a four-year full scholarship worth $120,000. Second- and third-place winners will receive lesser four-year grants.

Danielle Brooke Lancaster, granddaughter of L-667 retiree Eric Newell, hopes to finish at the top. Her dream is to major in nursing and then go on to become a pediatric doctor.

Voting began on January 1 and ends February 9. Only one vote per e-email address is permitted, and voters must respond to a confirmation e-mail sent back to them in order for the vote to count.
