The Ship Building and Marine Division of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Iron Ship Builders, Blacksmiths, Forgers & Helpers, AFL-CIO, represents workers at shipyards, both federal and private, throughout the United States and Canada. This division has been assigned by the International President as the primary point of contact for all Metal Trades Department issues.

Warren Fairley began working for the Boilermakers in 1990 in the rigging department of Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, Mississppi. He was appointed as an area steward shortly thereafter and became Business Manager/Secretary Treasurer of Local 693 in 1996. In 1999, Warren was appointed as an International Representative by former President Charles W. Jones and Assistant to the International President in September 2003 by our current International President Newton B. Jones. In February 2005, he was named Director to the Ship Building and Marine Division which is his current title.

Service to Local Lodges

The services provided include collective bargaining, grievance processing, advice, and leadership.

Meeting and Training

The Division has ongoing steward and officer training.
