Hogdaddy lands hog

L-199 retiree catches monster red fish

IT MAY NOT be a state record, but the 43-inch-long, 42-lb. red fish George Spicer (aka Hogdaddy) caught last fall was a handful for any angler. Spicer, a Local 199 (Jacksonville, Fla.) retiree, hooked the big fish Sept. 9 on the St. John’s River in Jacksonville, fishing with a blue crab at high tide. He released the fish after posing for this photo.

The Florida state record for a red fish (also called a red drum) is 52 lbs., 5 oz.
